The OCs of Singapore are organising a long weekend gathering 26-29 May 2011 and cordially invite all OC's their wives/partners and guests to our Asian island paradise. Over 70 people have already signed up. Singapore Conway, Worcester, Pangbourne Reunion 2011 We few OC's living here are sure you will enjoy the delights of the Orient to be found in Singapore. What have we got planned for you? The following is what we are going to do for our visitors: Stay at the Historic Goodwood Park Hotel, a 5 star hotel http://www.goodwoodparkhotel.com/ I am sure we will get a competitive rate.It is close to the renowned Tanglin Club, the venue of our main dining even on Saturday. It is also close to the shopping capital Orchard Road.
Thursday 26th. Informal cocktails by the pool and get to know one another. Bear in mind that the sun tends to cross the yard early in the tropics.
Friday 27th. Enjoy a city tour in the morning and see how things have changed since you were at sea. See Chinatown, Little India, Arab Street and many other interesting locations. Later in the afternoon at 1500hrs we will take you on a Junk Cruise of the Harbour and Islands followed by a Seafood meal at Marina Pier South.
Saturday 28th. Travel to Changi and visit "The Changi Museum" for a 45-minute guided tour. This will be followed by a light luncheon at the Min Jiang restaurant in the grounds of the Goodwood http://www.goodwoodparkhotel.com/dining-minjiang.html . Aptly named after the Min River of Sichuan, this restaurant presents a lavish dining concept in Chinese cuisine. Its menu features delicate Oriental fare from different provinces, including celebrated dim sum and barbecued specialties from an outdoor grill kitchen.The afternoon is yours to do as you like. For those interested we can arrange a ship simulator visit on Saturday afternoon.
The Main Dinner At the Tanglin Club, cocktails at 1800 and the main dinner at 1730. Dress jacket and tie (not black tie). We will have amusing guest speakers for your entertainment.
Sunday 29th. A remembrance service lead by the Padre of the Mission to Seamen's at St Georges Anglican Church. We will follow this up with Curry Tiffin at Raffles and a Singapore Sling at the Long Bar.
