"The
Conway Image Archive display provided a year by year photographic tour
from 1859 through to 1974 - all years were covered apart from 8 years
in the 1800s. The 5,100 images on display required over 100 yards of
linear space so ever inch of wall, window and doors were covered and we
had to hire in a number of double sided display stands as well The
images included Art Gallery: (140 paintings, drawings, cartoons and
models), the Band (53), Athletics (135), Boxing (8), Cadet Captains
(89), Cricket teams (20), Cross Country team (1!), Cutter & Gig
Crews (107), Gymnastics (13), Hockey teams (4), Judo team (1!), the
Loss of the Ship (over 200), Members of Staff (100 photos), QB group
photos (97 of them), Rugby (137), Sailing (87), Sextant Classes (5),
Tennis (4) and photos of cadets here, there and everywhere beyond
counting. Over 300 new photos were provided over the weekend and will
be loaded into the archive soon.
There
were dozens of artifacts and mementoes ranging from large items from
the Ship to oars, uniform items, programmes and QB / Chum books. These
were on tables aligned under the appropriate year.
The Conway Silver was on display prior to it moving to the Conway Chapel at Birkenhead"

Bob Gordon (59-62): "Alfie's picture show was an amazing dedication, like his book."
Clive
Plummer (67-72): " Alfie's display was fantastic - covering all years -
the punishment book for 1969 a revelation - an early heave out for
"Stupidity" not sure whether that would stand as a measure of justice -
mind you there were probably a few cadets who would be on permanent EHO
if that was the only qualification."
New! Terry Beggs (53-55): "Alfie Windsor's exhibition deserves a special mention."
Mike Sanders (58-61): " Once again we are indebted to Alfie Windsor for the display of photos and artifacts."
Peter
Syddall (59-62): "Throughout the weekend of course we had Alfie's
marvellous display of archives, photos and memorabilia. A unique
gathering of the Conway story."
Geoff Topp (58-60): "Alfie's photo display was incredible."
Bill Redfern (65-67): Congatulations on your excellent display over the weekend at the Adelphi."
